New Blog: pink & blue

I have had this post saved for a while and have been so busy with my new project I forgot to post this one…

I mentioned to you in January that there would be changes coming to my blog. I was looking to expand my audience and style.

I started this blog in October 2011, a few months after my son was born. I needed a creative outlet to share what I was going through as a first time Mom. Over the years, and after the birth of my daughter, my thoughts and ideas grew and changed, for the better I think. I needed something more encompassing – a place where I could share stories about my kids but also incorporate lifestyle: home design, fashion, DIY’s etc.

So…*deep breath*…come and follow me over at my new blog. (You can also follow me on my new Instagram account under pinkandblueblog.) I am loving how it has turned out and I am proud of it and how far I have come. I hope you will all follow me over there and join me on this new journey.

Thank you for giving me the strength and courage to start a new adventure.

I had to a double take when I opened up my blog page, because my last post was in September of 2016. I kept refreshing it because that couldn’t possibly be correct. Alas, I did not post in 2017. Here we are, the first day of 2018, a new year, a clean page, a fresh start of sorts. Last year was a year full of change and adjustment and I guess the year escaped me. To say my blog took a back seat to life is an understatement. Sadly, it wasn’t even an after-thought most days, which is okay. I miss it though.

I started my blog in October 2011, as more of an online journal to talk about life as a first time Mom. Of the years and after the birth of Everly it evolved into more than that. Now, 6 something years later I have decided to make some changes over here. This year I plan to really expand on the roots of my blog which includes a facelift and a name change. I have been thinking about changing the name of my blog for months and months but couldn’t decide on something I loved. I want it to be something more encompassing, but still hold true to the foundation and reason I started it in the first place: my kids. The name came to me one night in bed while I was brainstorming and I am happy with it.

I am not going to share it just yet, but I promise it is coming soon. I am still deciding if I will stay with WordPress or move somewhere else. There are a lot of things to sort out but I am excited about it. I hope you will all join me and my littles on this journey of expansion. I feel like I am no longer baby-stepping my way through motherhood. I would say it’s more like leaping through? Something like that. Hehe.

I wish you all a Happy New Year and all the best in 2018.

Oshawa Centre Media Preview Event

Yesterday I was lucky enough to attend the Media Preview Event for the Grand Opening (happening September 29) of the newly renovated Oshawa Centre. The $230 million expansion brings 60 new stores, a new 1000 – seat food court, two brand new full service restaurants: Kelsey’s (which is already open) and Baxter’s Landing (opening December of this year), 250 underground parking spaces and so much more!

Some of the new stores include: Adidas, Forever 21 (which is 20,000 sq ft!), Starbucks (in the brand new food court), Skechers, and an H&M flagship store (YES!) Also, just announced yesterday…a Zara and Browns Shoes, both opening Spring 2017! I cannot wait for the Zara to open. This is going to be very dangerous for me as the mall is only a five minute drive from my work…

Overall I was very impressed with the layout of the new addition to the mall and it’s hard to believe it will be done and ready to open in a week!

Stay tuned for my post next week on the official Grand Opening!

Pink Lemon Decor

Happy first day of Summer! I figured this was a great post for today.

I am a big fan of supporting local small businesses, especially when the owner is a friend of mine.

I met Amber a few years ago through a mutual friend and clicked with her immediately. Not only did she have a son the same age as Maxton, she had an awesome personality and I could picture a few ladies nights in our future. Since then, she has had another little boy who is also the same age as Everly. It’s fun to watch all these crazy kids play together.

She recently took a huge leap of faith and left her job to be a stay-at-home-mommy and pursue a passion of hers. Let me tell you, this girl has some SERIOUS TALENT. Her and her hubby recently purchased a new home and she has decorated it beautifully with many of her handmade creations.

I asked Amber what her inspiration was in starting up Pink Lemon Decor…

“Painting was always something I loved. I was always a crafter, DIY’er, and loved making anything for my home. When I had my first baby, all of those things were put on hold. Fast forward a few years later and painting has become my passion! I’m now a stay at home mom with 2 sweet boys and have pink lemon as my creative outlet!

I really love bringing ideas to life and seeing them admired in someone’s home. It started with family and friends asking me to make them signs or just something special for their home. It quickly evolved into something much more and that’s how Pink Lemon was born. My style is always evolving… although I just love rustic, farmhouse chic! I’m a perfectionist so a lot of time goes into planning, designing and actually painting.

Each sign is hand-cut, sanded, primed and painted or stained by yours truly. I always want something to be ‘perfectly you!'”

How awesome are these pieces?! I told you this girl has talent! She puts her heart and soul into every piece and the end result is the proof.
