A British Psychologist developed a “Happiness Equation” that deemed the third Monday of January or “Blue Monday“, to be the saddest day of the year. Apparently this results from a combination of Holiday debt, dreary weather and failed New Year’s resolutions. Failed resolutions? It’s only 16 days into the New Year; give people a chance! It seems a little farfetched to me.
There are not any sad people in this house. How can there be, when we have this to look at?
We are going on two and half months of waking every hour to three hours; three hours being a good night. Yawn.
I have now developed a mild case of insomnia, due to Maxton’s habitual waking. What do I do to try to fall asleep? I count by two’s (counting by one’s doesn’t require as much concentration); try to name a fruit for each letter of the alphabet, followed by vegetables. Last night I went through A-Z for fruits, and the last thing I remember is “C, for cucumber”.
I also find myself reciting conversations over in my head from the day. Crazy? Maybe. Sleep deprived at the least. I’m hoping Maxton realizes how comfortable the mattress really is, and that waking up to nurse really isn’t worth it…
Lesson of the week: Sleep is over-rated…Who am I kidding?
At this time, one year ago today, Steve and I were on a plane heading to Hawaii – ahh the memories. I was early on in my pregnancy and just getting over some serious morning sickness. I must say, the 11 hour plane ride wasn’t bad at all – the stop over in San Francisco helped.
My brother-in-law Jeff, sister-in-law Colleen, two and a half-year old nephew Oscar, and four-month old niece Lucy (at the time), spent three months there, and graciously invited us to join them. We spent ten glorious days bathing in the hot sun, body surfing, laughing, sight-seeing, and “bum-smashing” sand hills. Oh how we miss it.
That is definitely somewhere we will visit again (soon we hope) – next time with our baby on the outside. I showed Maxton the photo`s from our trip this morning – he shared my enthusiasm by drooling all over them.
This is the first Makeshift Monday post of 2012! With that in mind, I thought it would be fun to list the 10 best movies of 2011, according to Rolling Stone Magazine.
I’m not sure I agree…Well, to be honest, I haven’t seen any of them! HA! Life with a baby.
There are definitely a few on the list I would love to see – maybe one day.
10. War Horse/The Help/Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
9. The Tree of Life
8. Margin Call
7. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
5. Midnight in Paris
3. The Descendants
2. The Artist
Maxton loves to look at warning labels. I’m not sure what he finds more appealing: the bright yellow strip, or the bold black font. When we first put him in his swing, we couldn’t figure out what he was staring at. Surely, it couldn’t be the warning sticker. Oh, it was. In addition to the swing, he has spotted the sticker in the bassinet and the play yard.
Yesterday, I put him in his play yard, started his mobile, and went to the washroom. When I came back, this is how I found him:
Next Christmas, I will compile a book of warning labels for you. Mommy loves you.
