Makeshift Monday: A Quote for the Mama’s

Happy Monday!

Just something short and sweet for today. I recently came across this quote, and it brought tears to my eyes, as a Mother. For all you Mama’s out there, I am sure it will tug at your heart-strings too.

No one else will never know the strength of my love for you. After all, you are the only one who knows what my heart sounds like from the inside.

How beautiful is that? That is probably my favourite “mommy” quote.

I decided I am going to incorporate this on a canvas for Maxton’s big boy room, as well as one for the nursery, when we prepare it for our next little one.

Eighteen Months of Maxton

When Maxton turned a year old, I mentioned I would stick to updates every three months, rather than every month. It’s amazing to see how much he has changed in the last three months.

I can’t believe he is a year-and-a-half old! Time has been flying, and it’s crazy to think he will be closer to the age of two, than the age of one. Our little boy is growing up before our eyes.

– He is doing so well at daycare and is adjusting really well to the weekly routine. He is making little friends (one little girl is always so excited when she sees Maxton in the morning, it’s so cute).

– He loves to read books and will bring you his favourites when you ask him for them. His favourites these days are I Love You Through and Through, Happy Birthday Little Pookie, and Goodnight Moon. He also loves any books where he can point out everything he knows. (Alphabet and Animal books.)

– He LOVES blocks. He loves to stack them, and will sit there for a long time doing so. His record is 9, and gets frustrated if they fall over before he is done. He loves them so much that he will stack anything he can: pieces of toast, puzzle pieces, creamers at restaurants, you name it.

– He isn’t talking too much; he says a handful of words and everything else is just babbling a conversation. He understands EVERYTHING you say, which is both good and bad. Watching him learn to comprehend what we say to him is so much fun.

– He knows where his snacks are and will try to help himself, he runs to the fridge for his milk or water, whenever he is thirsty.

– He runs around, loves to dance, march, and tries to jump.

– He is starting to get into some children’s shows, Max and Ruby, Thomas, and Elmo seem to be his favourites at this point. I don’t really have the TV on often for him, just in the morning while he is eating and I am trying to get ready.

– He is becoming a little more picky when it comes to eating, but all in all I can’t complain.

Happy 18 Months, little monkey! xo

85 Years Young

Yesterday, we celebrated my Baba’s 85th Birthday. Such a milestone. She didn’t want a fuss. No party, no big get together, she didn’t even want to go out for dinner, but we finally convinced her. She loves Swiss Chalet, so her wish was our command.

I had to really stop and think about it, what 85 years meant. She came to Canada from Ukraine, with NOTHING. She built a life here, had two children, three grandchildren and one (soon to be two) great-grandchild(ren). 85 years. Swiss Chalet didn’t seem like enough to celebrate this, but it was more than enough for her – which she mentioned more than once during dinner.

(Excuse the quality of the pictures – they were taken quickly with my iPhone.)

Happy Birthday, was sung with much enthusiasm, thanks to the staff of the restaurant, complete with a strawberry sundae for the lady of the hour.

It was a great dinner!

Snow Day

A week ago Friday, we were hit with quite the snow storm. It’s not often that I can actually say we got A LOT of snow; but, we got A LOT of snow. Enough that our car and SUV couldn’t make it up the street, and it took hours for Steve to shovel through the drifts in our driveway.

It started the Thursday night, and only got worse throughout the day on Friday. I managed to make it to Maxton’s daycare and to work (although if I could do it again, I would have just stayed home), but was able to leave early.

At the end of it all, it was the most snow I have seen in a long time. Schools stayed open; however, the end of the day, I think they regreted the decision, as Police were advising people to stay off the roads. Too bad Maxton doesn’t really care about the snow yet…

I’m not sure he was as excited about shovelling all the snow as he looks…

Cars were getting stuck on the streets, and neighbours were coming out to help push people, and dig pathways for cars.

Maybe it doesn’t seem like a lot of snow, but for what we are used to, it is!

Makeshift Monday: Family Day

Happy Monday all! I hope you had a wonderful weekend, and managed to stay warm. I would like to wish all my Ontario readers a Happy Family Day! Steve is working today, so Maxton and I are enjoying our Family Day, just the two of us. That is fine with me!

I hope you are able to enjoy some time with your families. It doesn’t have to be Family Day to do something fun together.

I have some posts lined up for this week, so be sure to check back!
