Belle Fleur

Pink, purple, bows, clips headbands dresses – it has begun.

Now that I have a baby girl, I am becoming aware of all the “accessories” there are out there. Being one of three girls I was used to it as a kid, but soon forgot after having a boy. Maxton’s accessories were always limited to cute shoes and hats (which I loved); but Everly’s seem to endless. It almost seems “necessary” to put a headband on her, not to mention how cute she looks with one on. Even Steve said: “She needs to wear more headbands when they are this cute.”!

My friend had suggested I “like” a Facebook page for a woman who has a business creating headbands, clips, hats etc. Her company is called Belle Fleur; she is local, and sells her items in a couple of local shops. I decided to check her out and when I saw the pictures of her headbands, I became…err….obsessed. I was able to score 13 amazingly beautiful headbands for $13, during an online sale one evening. She will also make custom pieces with your colour/style choices, which is great!

How great are these??? The colour and style combinations are endless! The elastic bands are quite stretchy so they will fit her head as she grows, which is great.

Isn’t my little model adorable? Ha-ha.

My hat order will be going in shortly – can’t wait for that!

I love supporting local businesses, and wish I had thought of doing something this creative!

Our Little Family

On August 15, Everly was 16 days old and we had Everly’s newborn photo shoot.

We got the pictures back this week, and we are beyond impressed with how they turned out. We did a newborn photo shoot with Maxton as well, and I am so happy we chose to do them with Everly.

How great are these?!

Moments to treasure forever.

Trucking into Two

Saturday was Maxton’s second birthday party. As I mentioned, I chose to do it two weeks after his actual birthday, to give me some additional time to recover from my c-section. My plan was to have the party in the backyard, with our wonderful new deck, but mother nature had other plans. It has rained a handful of times this summer, and of course one of those times was Saturday.

I was expecting close to 40 people (14 of which were kids, including my own), so I knew it was going to be chaotic to say the least. Boy was it ever. Maxton had a great time, and although there were stressful moments, I am happy we went ahead with it, and didn’t cancel because of the weather.

The theme? Trucks! Maxton is LOVING trucks these days, and he has more than enough to keep him occupied. I was debating the theme of his party; the choices being “My Big Big Friend” (his favourite TV show) and trucks. I decided trucks would be more fun.

My favourite part about his truck themed party? The cake!

I flip-flopped with what I wanted to do for his cake. I knew that I wanted it to be homemade this year, so I searched Pinterest for some ideas, started brainstorming, and came up with something fun and creative. Steve wanted to make the cake, so I communicated the idea to him and he did an amazing job executing it. It turned out perfect!

This entire cake cost less than $10! The little trucks I got in a package from the dollar store – Maxton loved them!

What’s the one thing I didn’t do during the party? Take pictures of everyone at the party! I was so busy with food, keeping the house in one piece, and tending to Maxton and Everly, that I only took a couple. Thankfully my sister snapped a few for me as well.

Here is a mish mash of the party:

I still can’t believe he is two…

Happy Birthday, Maxton! xo

One Month of Everly

This post is very late – this should have been up on August 30!

Thankfully the pictures I took were actually taken on August 30, so they are accurate. I can’t seem to get into the “having two kids and managing everything else” swing of things. I am getting better, though…

I still can’t believe how quickly time goes by and how quickly they grow. Every day, Everly becomes more alert and seems to grow right in front of my eyes.

– She smiled for the first time on August 29

– She had her one month doctor’s appointment on August 29 and weighed 11lbs 15oz (1oz shy of 12 lbs! She gained 3lbs in 3 weeks!); and was 21 5/8 inches

– She is still waking every 2-3 hours through the night

– She is barely fitting into size 1 diapers and is starting to really fill out all of her 0-3 month clothes

– Her big brother LOVES to kiss her and touch her little head. I am sure she will absolutely adore him

– She has a fussy time every evening that can last anywhere from 1-4 hours (yawn)

– She is very gassy just like her brother was, and spits up after every feeding because she is such an aggressive nurser…just like her brother was..

So here she is at one month old!

I used a stuffed monkey in each of Maxton’s monthly photos, and I think I will use a doll for Everly’s. My mom got her the one in the above photo – her first doll.

Check back tomorrow for a post about Maxton’s birthday party; and Friday for pictures of Everly’s newborn photo shoot!
